Tanvi Silver and Stones is a proudly Canadian social enterprise founded in 2017. We are deeply committed to providing our Tanvi Community with unique and beautiful, fairly-traded, high-quality collections, while supporting sustainable livelihood opportunities for women..
Our name Tanvi comes from Sanskrit, the ancient language of Hinduism. It means “beautiful” and is also one of the many names of the Divine Mother and Warrior Goddess Durga—an embodiment of feminine strength, grace, compassion, and resilience. She is the perfect inspiration for our brand, and a constant reminder of the transformative power of empowered women.Â
Our logo further reflects our brand. It features the serene face of a woman emerging from a lotus flower—her presence is a testament to how beauty and resilience can emerge from even the most difficult circumstances.

Everything we do is rooted in the core values of fair trade, ethical practices, and environmental sustainability. We are proud to work with women artisans in Nepal, Uganda, Ghana, and beyond—honouring traditional skills, celebrating cultural heritage, and investing in brighter futures.

The Founders
Founders Jaya and Laurie worked together in the field of international development and gender equality for over 25 years.  Our Story is one of friendship, connection and a passion for supporting others. For nearly three decades we have engaged with promoting women’s rights and empowerment and worked with women across the globe from Nepal to Ghana.  Tanvi Silver and Stones allows us to continue to follow our passion and commitment for supporting women’s economic empowerment.
Our Partners
Tanvi Silver and Stones works with individual women, family artisans, women’s cooperatives and women led fair trade certified organisations. In 2021, Tanvi expanded it's base in Nepal to work through strong partnerships with established like-minded partners in Uganda and Ghana.
Tanvi supports partner artisans to advance their potential through enhancing capacities in design, business development and expand market linkages.
